How We Came To Be
Melissa Sims and Andrew Mills are Victoria-based Advanced Care Paramedics with BC Emergency Health Services. With more than three decades of pre-hospital care between us, we have specific expertise in acute trauma care, multi-patient events and complex resuscitation. We had been looking for the right moment to launch a non-profit focusing on supporting and developing pre-hospital care internationally.
Instead, that moment found us.
As the war in Ukraine escalated, ambulances and paramedics became specifically targeted. We knew we had to kick the future plans into high gear. We connected with a Ukrainian-based civilian pre-hospital care organization - Pirogov First Volunteer Mobile Hospital (PFVMH). Their tireless volunteers had been working on the frontlines of the conflict since it began in 2014. PFVMH have issued a call for help - they were in urgent need of service ready ambulances and emergency trauma supplies.
Our first initiative was an answer to that call.
Our goal was to purchase and deliver a serviced and stocked ambulance to paramedic colleagues with PFVMH. Thanks to the tireless support of friends, family, colleagues and community, the project took off. Read More Here
